Google is a company that has created a road map for what IT companies should be like; explain how Google can be considered to be one of the world's best companies and at the same time one of the world's most secretive organisations

Abstract

Information technology, also IT, involves the use of telecommunications and computer equipment in the transmission, manipulation, retrieving and the storage of data. Doyle (2000) notes that IT amalgamates the technological distribution of information through devices like telephones and television. There are a lot of companies that are involved in information technology and its advancement, dealing in software, computer service, and the equipment of telecom, internet, semiconductors, electronics and computer hardware. Among these companies is the Google Inc. through information technology, there is an automated processes of business that is handy in the provision of productivity tools which inverse efficiency.

There has been an accelerated development as far as technological advancement is concerned. Over the years, there have been communication, manipulation, retrieval and storage of information by humans. However, the modes and levels were not as advanced as the present level. The preset modes of processing and storage technology have been advanced over the years, evolving from pre mechanical, mechanical, electromechanical and ultimately electronic. In the quest of achieving a fully IT world, a lot of companies have been working round the clock to offer advanced services as far as the IT is concerned. Google has set precedence in the IT development by being one of the best companies in the world as far as the advancement and provision of information technology services.

Introduction

The Google Inc. is a multinational corporation that has its base in the United States of America and deals mainly in the provision of internet related services and products. These products include the cloud computing, internet search, advertisement technologies and software. The company generates nearly all its profits from the Ad Words advertisements. Founded in 1998, Google's main objective and mission is to ensure that the information in the world is organized and that there is universal usefulness and accessibility to information globally. Google is currently headquartered at Mountain View in California. Google has been instrumental in the offering of online products which was met by overwhelming growth in its chain of products. This growth has not only been witnessed in its products chains, but also in partnerships and acquisitions which have in time exceeded the main web search engine for the company. The company has a lot of online products including office suite services, email and a social network. Google has since extended its products to desktops, alongside having web browsing applications, instant messaging and a service for editing and organizing photos. (Duthel, 2008). Google has been in the forefront in the developing a mobile operating system referred to as android. Other services that the company has ventured into include the Operating System- Google Chrome and have eventually entered into the production of hardware in partnership with other manufacturers of electronics giving way for the manufacture of the Nexus devices series. Moreover, the company was part to the Motorola Mobility and the construction of the fibre optics as part of the company's Google Fibre. This move was to enhance the internet broadband service project. Google runs data centres of around 1 million servers worldwide and has more than a million search requests which run approximately 24 petabytes of data that is user generated per day.

Information Technology Advancement

By 2012 December, Google was rated as the most visited website in the United States of America. A lot of Google sites are among the top ten international sites alongside Blogger and YouTube, which are both owned by Google. Google is considered as one of the best IT companies in the world. This is because of the varied and advanced services that the company offers. Moreover, Google has set the pace for other companies to follow in various ways. Through its products and services that are IT compliant and viable, Google has contributed to the advancement and growth of information and technology.

Advertising in IT

Google has led the way in advertisement, with the company getting 96% of its revenue from various programs of advertisements. Google has taken the advertisement to a higher level through its innovative online marketing programs, making it the biggest broker in the world market. This has been achieved through its program of Double-click which the company used to easily determine the interests of the users this targeting its advertisements to be relevant to the needs of the users. This has made the company to be the best among the companies offering IT services worldwide. Moreover, the fast tracking of the Google Analytics has enabled various owners of different websites track how and where people are using their websites. This has been done through an examination of click rates by the website owners. Google has further advanced its online services to enable the placing of a third party sort of website in a program which has two parts. Google further uses the Google Ad Words that allows for the advertisements in the content network of Google.
