Jobs, everyone wants one, but will they do what it takes to have one? The United States, as of February 2008, has a 4.8% unemployment rate. Some workers get laid off while others can not get a job due to competition and the over all qualifications that the job requires. Most of the workplaces are advancing in technology. This is making it much easier for workers to perform certain tasks and increase over all efficiency. It use to be that only men were the workers and supporters of the family. This is extremely different compared to how it is now. Years ago, most women would be taking care of the house while the husband was off at work making the money for the family. Nowadays there are women performing jobs that even men wouldn't do. With racism now a thing of the past, all races now have equal opportunities in the workforce making it that much more difficult to find a job. With the mortality rate going up, there are now older people working instead of retiring at the age they would before. All of these factors make it harder for anyone to get a job due to the increase in competition.

Nursing is one of the most demanding jobs out there. There is a shortage of nurses and it is predicted that it will only get better for those going into nursing. There are job openings for nurses at almost every hospital and are always in demand. As a nurse you will always find a job in almost every city. With that being said, you wont need to relocate when being a nurse because most likely there is one needed in your city. Also, with time you can move up in “power” and actually be in charge of some other nurses. Not to mention, nurses get paid well.

As a nurse, they take care of the mentally or physically ill patients. They provide bedside nursing and sometimes they become the doctors advocate and they assist the doctor with anything they need. Nurses will need to help assist their doctor with anything he asks. A home care nurse will actually go visit you at your house and help you out with anything you need. Nurses can also perform small tasks such as checking your temperature, pulse and any other vital signs. You will need to do a lot of studying to become a nurse. It is not as easy as some people might think it is. First you would need to decide what degree plan you are going for. A BSN or an ADN, which is either
