Information Systems and Organizational Departments
Abstract
The three organizational departments that I have chosen for this paper are accounting, management, and human resources. For each of the three aforementioned organizational departments I will provide an overview of the applications that I have selected and I will also discuss how the selected applications relate to that particular organizational department.
For the accounting department, I chose the Intacct - Finance and Accounting Software. This application software is for a small to medium sized business that provides a "real-time visibility into financial and operational data." This software is an industrial strength application that helps to improve the company's business performance. Because this software contours and automates critical business channels it helps to increase financial productivity and adhere to specific accounting guidelines from the FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board), Sarbanes-Oxley and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). This application relates to the accounting department because it has a number of different modules available for each part of what the accounting department is responsible for. For example, they have a module for accounting, contract management, revenue recognition, order management, inventory, multi-currency management, purchasing, vendor management, financial consolidation, and financial reporting and dashboards that are delivered through the internet with their Software as a Service (SaaS) feature. With all of these modules available for each facet of the accounting department's responsibility, it would help for them to be more accurate, efficient, and productive.
The application that I chose for the management department is the Agresso Business World. This application software gives the company the ability to make quick and cost-effective changes to their business operations. All of these decisions also can be controlled through this software. The modules that are available with this software are financial management, procurement management, human resources and payroll, reporting and analytics, planning and budgeting forecasting, business process automation, field service management and asset maintenance, and project costing and billing. Each module works in correlation to each aspect of the business. Management by definition according to dictionary.com is "the act or manner of managing; handling, direction, or control." In order for the management department to do just that they would need this software to enhance every aspect of the business.
