Does Culture and Environment influence Human Development more that our genes? This question has been researched and research time and time again. Have we found an answer? Paul Ehrlich and Marcus Feldman says "yes", while Gary Marcus says "no". The question I want to know is does anyone really knows the answer to this.
Ehrlich and Marcus argue that human behavior exhibts such compesity that genetic prgrams simply cnat expalin the way people develop. This side of the story makes sense. Genetics is a trciky thing, you never know how someone is going to act intil it is done. Marcus argues that research clearly demonstrates how a relatively small numer of genes influnce our environment learning by "cascading" to determine the paths of out behavioral development. He is trying to say that the environemnt that we are in our genes will automaticly start and let us know what to do.
The two sides of the agreements had some good points and bad points as well. I can see how both side could have their respective agreements for each. I think that there is no right or wrong answer to this question because we act a different way in every situation in out life. Now is that our genes or culute? Really I dont know. In our group disscusion we talkes about a vartiy of things that can happen in some situation that occurs. The environment makes can change how you act. EX: No one acts the same while in class and hanging out with your friends. Also we looked at the genes side saying two twin raised in two different area such as suburan are and inner city, they my have the same genes but they will act differently when they are together because of the way the was raised. Another example is when someone tell you you act just like your mother or father is the age that you are now. You hav no way of knowing that. Is that becaus eof the genes? WHo knows. The two sides has some very good points.
