Thirteen days, or what I saw of it, was an excellent movie. It demonstrated power, of the President (John Fitzgerald Kennedy at the time), America’s powers, and worst of all, it showed what the government can hide from us civilians.

John Kennedy demonstrated power throughout this whole movie. When ever someone else tried to walk all over his toes, he would say “NO ONES MAKING THE DECISIONS HERE EXCEPT ME!…I’M THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!” and I really liked that he wanted to control HIS nation. He showed excellent leadership skills throughout the whole movie. When he didn’t want the nation to know about Cuba’s plan attack, the nation didn’t know. And when he decided it was time for them to find out, he told everyone. He took care of America in this movie, and situation…hell I’m glad we had Kennedy then instead of Bush, could you imagine how big of a mess that would have been?

Cuba had missiles, nuclear missiles that belonged to Russia, in their possession. I don’t understand why these little, not quite so developed countries always insist on trying to start stuff with America. First off, we’re the most developed, our military is the best, and we have one thing they don’t-freedom. Why people would want to threat a place like this, fathoms me. I loved the part in the movie, when all the nations had met up and Russia denied any nuclear weapons at all. And the American guy brought in the pictures and made him look like a total loser. It was a great experience, and fun times were had.

It scares me how the government can hide such crucial information from the people that inhabit it’s country, and make their jobs AND SALARIES possible. Although Kennedy and the government TOLD us, they should have told civilians sooner. What if Cuba would have decided to blast off early? I think it’s disrespectful to a point, when you have to hide valuable, and crucial information from people who support you, and look up to you. What if Iran, Iraq,
