Name of Maneuver: Lazy Eights

Definition: This maneuver is two one hundred and eighty degree turns that are opposite of each other and incorporate climbs and decents.

References: Jeppesen Guided Flight Discovery to Instrument Commercial, pp 14-17 to 14-19;

Objectives: To develop and improve coordination, orientation, planning, division of attention, while maintaining precise aircraft control.

Elements: 1. Clearing turns.

2. Set up a with an altitude above 1500 feet AGL and at the manufacturer's recommended airspeed or Va.

3. Align your flight path with the reference point.

4. Begin a turning climb to the forty five degree point of the turn.

5. When you hit the forty five degree point of the turn, the aircraft should be at maximum pitch and bank angle with a bank angle of fifteen degrees.

6. From the forty five degree point to the ninety degree point, decrease the pitch to the horizon while increasing the bank angle.

7. At the ninety degree point, slowly lower the nose and roll out of the turn.

8. At the one hundred and thirty five degree point, the aircraft should be at its lowest pitch attitude.

9. You should be in level flight attitude at the one hundred and eighty degree point.

10. Repeat the process in the opposite direction.
