Leadership
How can we define leadership? We can go the scholarly way and get the definition from text books. Webster’s dictionary has defined leadership as the ability to lead or the activity of leading. These are very vague terms and don’t really give the clear ideas of what leadership should be.
I believe that what defines leadership is the ability to show intuitive thinking and to set an example that will help their followers become better at whatever task they are trying to accomplish. Someone who has good leadership will face a problem, analyze it to the fullest extent, and ask which method is best for dealing with the problem. Leadership is also having the vision to anticipate each consequence of their actions and try to make the best decisions with the least amount of repercussions.
Leadership is being able to motivate people in a way that will allow them to flourish in the position that they are in. A leader should have rules in place to help keep order and they should enforce rules to show that they are in control and can command respect. Having the ability to let someone learn a position so well that they no longer need supervision is the sign of a true leadership.
Showing leadership is more than just yelling orders or bossing people around its setting guidelines by which people and operations function, it’s helping the business or organization become well and function more efficiently. It’s being able to get the most out of people without causing hostility. I believe that the most important characteristic of leadership is being able to lead by example. Showing someone how to do something the right way is true leadership.
