Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2006-2007 school year! My name is , and this is my first year at Wild Cats Elementary. It was always my belief that I could make a difference in the way education is offered to our children, and the best way to do that is to have open communication between parents and teachers. Together, we will make this the most exciting and rewarding academic year of your child's life.
As your child's social studies teacher, I will be spending a great deal of time with him/her each day. From the very first bell, I will honor my obligation to stimulate and closely monitor your child's motivation and academic achievement. In doing so, I will be getting to know your child day by day. However, nobody knows your child better than you! That is why I need your partnership.
Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include mini lessons to review what the students have learned in their past social studies classes. We will then go on to more extensive lessons that will cover early American history, historical figures, and the makeup of the American government. Throughout the term, I plan to integrate fun Quiz sessions and prizes that will encourage your child to participate in class activity as well as review studied materials.
As you know, technology has also become a great contributor to education today. Therefore, I will be dedicating every Friday as "computer day". This will require students to use interactive software as well as the internet to research and write short essays relevant to subjects talked about in class.
I will be in contact with you, on the phone or through the mail, keeping you updated on your child's daily progress. If you ever feel that your child is having social or behavioral issues please don't hesitate to contact me, we will be more successful at resolving the matter if we work together. I am confident that we will develop a constructive relationship,
