Resolved that the legal drinking age be lowered to 18 years of age. There are many reasons for lowering the legal drinking age to 18. Some of these reasons include: the fact that at the age of 18 you are considered an and take on lots of responsibilities, also you do not necessarily reach your peak maturity at the age of 21, and in addition by raising the legal drinking age to 21 in the first place, lives were not saved from drinking and driving s but rather transferred to a higher age group.

One of the largest reasons for lowering the legal drinking age to 18 years of age is the fact that at the age of 18 you are considered an and take on lots of responsibilities. At 18 years of age you are judged mature enough to vote, hold public office, serve on juries, serve in the military, fly airplanes, sign contracts and get married. How would you feel if you got married and at the wedding reception you were the only one who could not drink? --------------------------------

Another reason for lowering the drinking age to 18 is the fact that your body does not stop developing and you do not necessarily reach your peak maturity at the age of 21. According to NYRA (National Youth Rights Association), a 21 year old is different from an 18 year old, just as a 41 year old is different from a 38 year old. Maturity is something your progress through all of your life. It is not something that just stops at your 21st birthday. Along with your maturity, your body and mind are developing all through out your life. According to the NYRA (National Youth Rights Association), every single over the counter medication defines an dose for ages 12 and up. If the FDA can determine that a 12 year old is developed enough to have dose of a medication, then an 18 year old is developed enough to have a glass of wine with dinner.
