Introduction

Self-leadership plays a significant role in our personal life. This assignment reflects various skills of self-leadership through analysis of personal profile for instance, positivity, emotional intelligence, self-confidence, self-motivation, communication and decision making power. I would like to be a successful manager. Hence, it is very important for me (as a manager) to become aware about myself by identify the strengths and weaknesses.  I must have management & leadership skills along with positive behaviour towards my colleagues and co-workers. By identify my strengths I can apply those abilities in my life to get positive results and by finding my weak points I can encourage myself to adopt new skills and actions to improve myself.  The considerable purpose of this assignment is skill development by examine my current skill level in depth and find out weakness and strengths. The first part of this assignment provides literature summary of self-leadership skills. Second, I examine my current skill level through completing some surveys and 360 feedback from friends, manager and co-workers, In the third part I will reflect on my strengths and my area of improvement. Finally, after identify my area of development, I will set up a change goal to identify how can I improve myself. This assignment will help me to reflect myself and improve my limitations in my personal and professional life.

Literature summary of self-leadership skills  

Self-leadership is the interpersonal influence, drive, and motivation towards achieving one’s objectives. Self-leadership skills impact all aspects of life from careers, social life as well as general grooming of any individual which translates to leadership competencies.  A report by self-leadership describes leadership as a journey and that the more self-leadership anyone attains, the more successful they become thus the need for more self-leadership to govern this success. For any given organization, there is a need for those in leadership positions to poses governing skills for the smooth running of the facility.

My chosen occupation is management. I must consider manager’s self-leadership skills. There are core skills that are a must have in any manager. These skills will determine the success of the business and how it can deal with other competitors. The basics of planning are a major skill especially in laying out the objectives of the company (Carmeli, Meitar & Weisberg, 2006). A good manager should spell out the goals, objectives, resources, strategies and the budget allocations. All this should be determined before they are presented to the other managers of the firm.

In addition to that, another core concept of self-leadership skills in a manager is delegation. This entails assigning responsibilities for other to carry out. Delegating roles should prioritize those that need to be met soon. This is a critical decision since some tasks can only be delegated by the manager while others can be assigned to subordinates. As a leader, communication skills define how they relate to others (Politis,2006). Any information should be passed across in the right channel to ensure that the objectives are clearly spelled out. In conclusion, self-leadership entails a broad scope of skills that if possessed by any manager will foster the realization of the company’s goals.

I am presenting table 1. I did all the surveys to check my identity and individual profile. In the table I have examine the scores of surveys. In addition, I depict my qualities and weakness. Moreover, I analyse what I could gain from these surveys and improving my own profile.
