My Pizza

My family thinks that my pizza is the best. They like it better than any other kind. My son and I had decided that I would make pizza for my husband for Father's Day this year. However, it ended up being for the whole family. That is my daughter's, their husband's, their husband's mother (two of my daughter's are married to two brothers), their children, and my son. That was for twelve people, which meant that I was going to need four pizzas. First, I needed to go to the store. I need to buy two boxes of Bisquick, four pounds of hamburger and four pounds of Italian sausage, four cans of large pitted olives; four cans of chunked pineapple packed in its own juice, four containers of sliced mushrooms, three, two pound blocks of cheddar cheese, and two, two pound blocks of mozzarella cheese. In addition, let us not forget the two gallons of milk to wash it all down.

A person can use any toppings on the pizza they want; this is what we all like the best so we do not change it. I use to use just the hamburger, but one of my daughters does not like plain hamburger so I added the sausage to change the taste. I think to use just the sausage on it would make it just a little too spicy. She was only about four years old and did not really know the difference. In addition, the sausage did make it taste better so it became a part of it.

My kitchen is not that big, so my first task at home is to make room for four large cookie sheets. I have stackable cooling racks that will be good for stacking them as I go.

To make my pizza, first I start by frying one pound of hamburger and one pound of Italian sausage per pizza. I put them both in a large pan, cook, and stir it on very low heat; I use a separate pan for each pizza. The low heat is so that it will crumble easier. I make the crust while that is cooking, but I stir the hamburger often. The smell of the meat fills the house and makes everyone's mouth water. To make the crust, I mix together three cups of Bisquick and three-quarters cup of water. I do not want it to be too sticky, I can add more Bisquick or water as needed. Then I roll it out on the floured cutting board to fit the ten by eighteen inch cookie sheet. I make one crust at a time because I want each pizza to have equal amounts of everything. As soon as the hamburger mixture is cooked I drain it, I leave it in the strainer while I do the rest of the preparations, to get as much grease off as possible.

When the hamburger is all cooked I then turn the oven on to three-hundred fifty degrees to preheat. It would make it too hot in the kitchen to have it preheating for the full time of putting the pizza's together. In addition, it would run up the electric bill unnecessarily

I try to clean up as I go and load the dishwasher so that when I need to assemble them I can spread them out more. That way I have a kind of an assemble line and then it goes faster. I do not really like to cook so, by the time I get to the point of assembly I do not want to be in the kitchen anymore, I am almost done. The faster it is finished the better. The anticipation of eating it also helps in me wanting it done and over with.

Next, I use a pastry brush to put the Pizza Quick pizza sauce on the uncooked crust, one jar per crust. I make sure that I cover the whole crust getting it into all the corners, other wise the crust will burn. Then I drain each can of chunk pineapple and each can of large olives. Now it is time to put the pizza together. I take the drained hamburger mixture and sprinkle it evenly over the pizza sauce. Then I put the pineapple on top of that. Then I take the olives and pinch and twist each one, that is a lot easier than slicing each one
