Carl Robins the campus recruiter for ABC, Inc. hired 15 new employees who would be working for Monica Carrolls the Operations Supervisor. Carl scheduled the new hire orientation for June 15 with the intent that the 15 new hires will be working by July. On the 15 of May, Monica Carrolls contacted Carl to discuss the new the training and orientation schedule, Carl assured Monica that everything would be set and ready for the day of orientation.

Carl's frustration is due to the lack of preparation for the new hire orientation. Carl must have also realize the magnitude of the problem not only lack of preparation but also the bad the impression it will give the new hires. Realizing that he had not finalized the paperwork needed for the orientation on June 15 also, he realized other important information had not been completed such as: transcripts on file and none of the new hires had been to the clinic for mandatory drug screening. In addition, to new hire paperwork Carl searched and found missing pages from the orientation manual. Carl decided to take a walk and upon his return, he decided to check the schedule for the training room and found that Joe had reserved the room for the entire month of June. "The recruitment process is just the beginning of a new employee's experience with your company. Getting them set up with the tools they need and up to speed with your corporate policies and culture, ensures that the investment you are making in them can begin to benefit your organization as quickly as possible. Employee on boarding rapidly helps your new hires to become fully engaged and productive members of your team."

In order not to have a repeat of this situation, it would be beneficial if Carl were to first complete a new hire checklist. The checklist would give Carl an accurate visual as to what is needed from each new hire and he would be able to inform each new hire of what is required to complete the process. The next step would be to research, replace the missing pages of the orientation manuals, and send off for more copies of the manual along with extras for future hire and always keep a copy for back up. Final, solution would be to find an offsite venue that has space available to conduct a meeting for 15
