Nick at Nite

Like millions of Americans out there I am a huge Nick at Nite viewer. For those of you who are not familiar with this programming, it is a bunch of shows that can be seen on the Nickelodeon channel between the times 9:00p.m. and 5:30a.m. Between these times you can catch many episodes of Full House, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Roseanne. These shows are classics that you can only find on Nick at Nite.

If you tune into the Nickelodeon channel around 10:00p.m.you will be able to see an episode of Full House. This show debuted on September 22, 1987, which means that I basically grew up with this show. Full House is based on the Tanner family that keeps growing as new household members arrive. Danny Tanner is the father of three daughters: DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. Because the girl's mom died after Michelle was born Danny asked his brother-in-law Jesse and friend Joey to move in and help raise the kids. Danny was a talk show host for the popular talk show "Wake Up San Francisco," Jesse had his own band called "Jesse and the Rippers," and Joey was a stand up comic. Over the years more people moved into the house as Jesse got married and had twin boys. The show is about solving the problems that occur during each episode. The last few minutes of the show talks about the lesson that was learned and leads to the inevitable happy ending. This show is great to watch if nothing else is on or to see the cool band "Jesse and the Rippers," however, I feel that most of the problems are unrealistic and the lesson part of the episode bores me.

After watching Full House you can catch an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air, which stars the comedian Will Smith. Will grew up in West Philadelphia where he got into some trouble and had to move in with his Uncle Phil, Aunt Vivian, and his cousins Carlton, Hillary, and Ashley in Bel Air. Uncle Phil is a judge who is overweight and often the topic of Will's jokes. Carlton is an uptight Republican, who loves to listen to Tom Jones, never gets a date, loves money, and wants to attend Princeton. Hillary is the oldest and loves to shop using her daddy's credit card. She is a Weathergirl and is often made out to look dumb. Ashley is the youngest and the most sane. She looks up to Will and many times follows his example. This show is about the trouble the crazy mishaps and problems that the family gets into, mostly Will and Carlton. It also shows how Will adapts to his new wealthy surroundings. I recommend watching this show because Carlton is hilarious and, although lessons are learned, the comedy stays consistent throughout the show.
