It’s very rare to see someone walking around without a phone in their hand. The amount of technology we have at our fingertips is extraordinary thanks to apps.
- Nursing Dictionary (FREE) - This app is a great dictionary with over 56,000 medical terms and multiple authoritative nursing dictionary’s including entries on the five-step nursing process.
- Lab Values Medical references ($2.99) - This app is the top rated lab value and medical reference app. This will help with normal lab values and reasons for elevated and decreased values.
- Figure 1 (FREE) - This app is a great resource for all medical personnel it categorizes different rare and common illness and questions treatment and diagnosis.
- Nurse Grid (FREE) - This is a great app for nurse and their crazy schedule and frequent meetings, it was designed by a nurse for nurses.
- Nursing Essentials ($5.99)- This app is for all the way from beginners to advanced nurse that just need a good reference from EKG rhythms, drugs, and dosing.
- Pocket Pharmacist (FREE) – Great resource for drug interactions, compatibility, warnings, dosing, and indications for use. I feel like this would be a very helpful app you can never have too much info on drugs.
- Clinical exam (FREE) – This is a great simulation app that help look at different cases and scenarios.
- Essential Skeleton (FREE) – There is no way anyone remembers all the names of the bones with this app you can look up specific bones.
- Medical Abbreviations (FREE) – This helps nurses when that weird case comes in with the diagnosis or tumor you have never heard of.
- Flashlight (FREE) – Most phones now come with a flash light, all nurses need a flashlight, if you work night shift they are great to have, if you can’t find your pen light this will help.
- Convert any unit ($2.99) – Medications and IV fluids come in different units often with this app you can convert any unit from weight, volume, and length a nurses best friend.
- Learn Muscles ($2.99) - Another great reference for nurse to review all the muscle of the human body.
- Anatomy skill- circulatory system ($1.99) – All good nurse need to be able to start an IV, sometimes you can’t see them this will help you learn the anatomy and where veins are located.
- Resuscitation (FREE) – This app is good for those that work in the critical care area to help them stay up to date on resuscitation measures.
- Nurses pocket guide (FREE) - This app is an overall reference for nurses with a little bit of medications, lab values, and treatment for common diseases.
- iTranslate ($6.99) – This app I personally have and it comes in handy not just in health care but in everyday life. Communication in health care is a very important thing that needs to be addressed.
- ECG (FREE) – Learning cardiac rhythms can be very challenging if you don’t see them often. This app can help quiz and teach you different rhythms and keep you familiar.
- STAT growth charts ($5.99) – Working in the pediatric world of nursing children’s growth and development is very important this app is a quick reference to these charts and the norm.
- Nursing care plans (FREE) – We all love care plans and these can be very important in daily care for patients. This is a great guide to NANDA approved care plans.
- Nursing timer (FREE) – When working with multiple patients it’s easy to forget about a pump or reevaluation of pain meds. This app helps nurses organize and set timers for different interventions very easily.
