Obesity among university students: A Cross-Sectional Study in Ajman, UAE.

This research paper was carried out to study the proportion of obesity among university students and the factors causes to it. A cross sectional investigation was led among understudies selected in the pre clinical years, in the six scholarly projects. An approved, self-regulated poll with areas, for example, social-statistic qualities, self-detailed physical movement, dietary propensities, and anthropometric estimations was utilized. Stature and weight were estimated and Body Mass Index was determined and sorted by WHO criteria. The information were broke down by SPSS 21, Descriptive examination and Chi square test were performed.Almost a one fourth was observed to be overweight and fat. This article summarize the associate health problems and the unique features of obesity in the Indian context. A brief outline of the different measures of obesity and the authors opinion about perspectives for the future is explained. According to the author obesity is a multi-factorial disorder and the causes of obesity is both genes and environmental factors. He said the adverse effects of obesity on health are multiple. It can compromise the normal physiology of different organ systems and produce far-reaching effects. India is currently undergoing a major epidemiological transition, where nutritional deficiencies and infectious diseases due to demographic and lifestyle changes. Future challenges to biomedical researchers working on obesity are two-pronged which are to come up with an integrative understanding of the biological mechanisms involved in obesity predisposition and causation and in developing effective strategies for preventing and treating obesity.
