Executive Summary

In the principles of management module we are supposed to do a project report regarding an organizational management process and environment analysis. Basically the management process means planning, organizing, leading, and controlling of organizational resources to achieve goals and objectives in an efficient and effective manner. We visited tea Production Company and analyzed their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and came up with new solutions to their problems. This report consists of the macro and micro environmental analysis, internal company resources and SWOT analysis and the solutions that we suggest to overcome their weaknesses and threats. This report contains the information we found during our research.

Introduction

In Sri Lanka tea industry plays major role in increasing national output. So we decided to visit a tea manufacturing company for our assignment. Situated in the mountains of Wadhuramba, Galle, DAVIDSON tea factory is one of the most celebrated and respected low-grown tea manufacturing company in Sri Lanka. They are mainly focused on producing and exporting tea for Middle East countries and Russia. Also a small amount of their production has been released to local market consumers. The brand Davidson tea is established on 1960s.First it was owned by a foreigner called Mr. Henry David who was a planter, later the ownership changed to Mr.K.A.Gamage who is currently inheriting the company. The company’s main input for the production was from suppliers who are located near by the factory Wadhuramba. Currently they are producing low grown tea products which have different kinds of categories. Each categories differentiated by taste, quality and colour and the export is also, carryout according to those variations. Mainly their distribution network is carried out through the brokers who work at the Colombo tea auction. Currently there were 40 laborers working there and also 8 employees to conduct the management process. Their production volume per day is 15000 kgs and the annual profit is around 10 million.

Objectives are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, targets that the business wants to achieve during a short period of time.

• Achieve50 million revenue per year.

• To gain 15% of market place in the industry.

• Increase production volume to 15000 kg per day.

• To fulfill the consumer personality and lifestyle.

• Introduce the company into the wide market range and improve its position.

Organizations have both external and internal environment identify and analyze the internal and external environment of your selected organization.

1. Owners

Currently the organization is owned by Mr.K.A.Gamage there is no shareholders in this company so it is running as sole trader organization.

2. Managers

There are two managerial levels in this organization.

That are general manager in this company who has a responsibility to establishes goals and strategies to represent the entire business and he is accountable for owners of the company.

There are four middle level managers who represents

Financial, marketing, production, human resources departments. They are performing to fulfill the desired tasks to achieve organizational goals.
