The play “Othello” was the first real production play I’ve ever attended. It was amazing to actually see the whole stage setup. It was very different then watching anything on television or a movie. Seeing something in person rather than on TV grabs your attention and captures it. There’s always something going on to look at on stage. Sometimes if I got distracted by something, the sound of the characters voice would draw me back in or the sound of music would grab my attention again.
An FSC student designed the costumes, which were absolutely stunning. The design of the production seemed very art deco, with many geometric kinds of shapes. Also, the lighting was setup by an FSC student and I thought he did a great job with what he used. The mood and the stage sometimes depends on the lighting to create the right mood. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of watching a play in person. Even the scent inside of an auditorium brings back memories from early childhood and high school. For some reason all auditoriums smell the same to me.
There are so many people, some alike, some different, but we were all there for the same reason. I’m sure we all had our likes and dislikes, but I’m sure we would agree that FSC did a great job. Even though I had to attend this play as a mandatory assignment to write this theatre response, next time maybe I will attend one for no reason at all.
