1. Introduction

Throgugh our Lean Six Sigma training we reviwed the analyze phase in wich we learned that during this phase we can observe and analyze what are the root causes of the main issues the company is going through, in order to develop hypotheses as to why the problems exist.

By observing and analyzing the different pictures of the factory I decided to concentrate in 3 categories in which I identified different serious problems that may interfere with the efficiency of the company this are the categories:

1.1 Workers

  1. As we may see in the different images I noticed that the works aren’t using the proper garments to perform their labor. It is very important for them to have the proper clothes to perform in a better way, also for their safety, working in a factory may put them in danger, if their clothes get stuck in a machine the result may end up in a tragedy.
  2. In some areas there are a lot of employees in the same workstation doing a job that could be done with one worker

1.2 warehouse

  1. A constant factor that is a major problem for efficiency is the way they storage the merchandise and even the equipment needed to do certain tasks its misplaced.
  2. Also I saw that they have equipment that they aren’t using near their workstation that may be a cause that slows down production.
  3. There is no special space designated for the equipment they use, everything is just placed were they have free space.
  4. There is a photo where it is shown that the workers are making boxes, and because they have no place to put them they are all crumbled up in the hallway, creating obstacles for anyone who wants to go trough

1. 2 Environment

  1. The factory it’s not in very good conditions that can be seen in all of the photos the equipment and machinery seem very old and dirty, it is very important to give each machine their maintenance after a certain period of time regardless of it is broken or not, because this way you can prevent a failure and the production wont be stopped or disturbed.
  2. I noticed that there were a lot of fans in the different areas of the factory, I concluded that because it’s a factory dedicated to the production of aluminum items the temperatures may be very high, the workers need to have good conditions in their surroundings to perform in a better way, also the fans use a lot of space that could easily be saved if and a.c was installed.
  3. Lighting, in most of the photos we can see that most of the lights around the factory aren’t, working or that the factory is poorly illuminated, creating a bad work environment for the workers.
  4. There are no security indicators,
  1. Recommandaties

Having looked through the different 27 photos, and selecting the 3 different categories it is important to start working on possible solutions for the problems observed, I think that it is important to analyze first the root of the problems in order to get to a solution.
