Today's professional environment requires working professionals that have the ability to work not only independently buy function as a member of the collective environment working towards the common goal of the industry. Both students and working professionals require immediate access to needed information in order to solve a particular problem being faced with at the time.

The Value of rEsource

With today's busy lifestyles that people lead, time is one of the most vital commodities that students and business professionals wish he or she had more of. Some feel there is just not enough, "time in the day" to accomplish all that is required of them. With the availability of information at the "click of a button", students and business professionals can access information not only within seconds but at any time and at any place they desire.

REsource is a modern compute- based method of delivery and access of learning materials. REsource is a "gateway" to student's electric course materials. "REsource is the University of Phoenix's initiative to deliver all course materials electronically. The purpose of this page is to give students access to a rEsource practice page in order to better understand how to access course materials". Bottom line, rEsource gives the student the ability to search and communicate electronically and sets the "foundation for information utilization" (University of Phoenix).

The Value of Learning Teams

Learning teams are an integral part of the University of Phoenix's Teaching / Learning Model. In the educational environment, the classes require active participation by students in the educational process, thus placing substantial responsibility on the learner. Additionally, the learning team process allows individuals to learn from one another through participation in learning team discussion and decision-making.

The skills one learns in teams, such as how to combine and share talents, experience and learning resources, are held in high regard by corporations and organizations. This sharing of knowledge allows the individual team members to broaden his or her understanding of problems addressed by the collective. Workers who create a collaborative, team-oriented learning environment are often more productive and creative Ð'- qualities employers look for in a highly competitive market. According to Tuckman, members of the learning group learn to work as a team by first learning to deal with the personal competitive conflicts between each, then move towards acknowledgement of the other member's contributions then into being able to work independently on assigned tasks, within subgroups or as a collective team for the benefit of the team. They are able to share practical knowledge that comes from life and work experiences. Learning teams serve as catalysts for reflection, by which participants make sense of and apply new knowledge. Additionally, members of the teams learn to function as both leaders and productive members of a group. Learning teams, along with the collaborative learning environment of the classroom, can provide students with the competitive edge they need to achieve their personal and professional goals. Working together as a team results in an improved quality of product, regardless of what the product is. Lastly, working as a learning team in the classroom environment teaches the students the concepts and techniques that are used in today's business world.

The Value of Problem-Based Learning

Problem-Based learning is taking the information and knowledge that a person already possesses and applying that knowledge to solving a new and existing problem.
