Ambition is important because our generation’s determination is what will shape our future. Having ambition builds you up as a college student and as a person. Goals are another important thing in a person's life, which creates something to look forward to. When you set goals, you are on a even faster route to achievement. By staying focused on your goals and ambitions, you will have a successful life and long term happiness.
Many people have gone through what I have went through in my 17 years of life or even worse. However, I talk about my situation because it has made me who I am today— an ambitious, college-bound, young woman. My mother was on drugs and my father was in jail when I was born. My mother took care of me for a few months but realize she wasn’t stable enough. So she gave me my father‘s mother— The woman who I can truly say made me who I am today. So my parents going to jail, coming out and getting clean, then getting back on drugs and going back to jail became a cycle throughout my life. Through all this, I decided that I wanted to be better than them to say I have a career and that I went to college. It’s so much I wanted to do to be better than them— thorough determination, ambition, setting goals, and constant support from family and friends— made this all possible.
College is it like high school. I’ve been told this so many times so I’m prepared for things to be different and more challenging. College is basically what you make of it. I’m ready to join clubs, strike up conversations with new people, and make new friends. I’m ready to be independent which will test how responsible I can be especially when put in difficult situations and circumstances. I want to be a nurse. This has been my dream career since I was in middle school. I know nursing is a tough major to take up in college and many do not finish through and end up switching majors. I know that with ambition, setting goals, staying focused, and constant support from family and friends, that I will push through and finish nursing school and get my degree.
