Since the creation of the Security Council, 4 countries (India, Pakistan, Israel, N. Korea) and possibly a fifth (Iran) have obtained weapons of mass destructionÐ'... making them all very powerful and dangerous countries.

The power possessed by any country with WMD is immeasurable, as just the thought of a nuclear war can persuade many things to happen. North Korea has used their WMD to help their economy grow, as the US has offered them goods and services in exchange to disarm. This made me pick the topic of WMD as its very interesting how different countries use their WMD for threats, bargaining chips, or both.

When the US and Security Council ask these countries to disarm, I can see why they are unwilling. Every country in the security council has WMD, which gives them all great power.. so why wouldn't a smaller country want WMD. I think if we want these other countries to disarm their WMD, than the Security council should disarm theirs as well.

The issues with WMD in the world are very dangerous. There are enough countries with them, and enough conflicts that could produce a nuclear war at any time. My reaction to this is that the US and Security Council needs to do anything in their power to get rid of all the WMD in the world. At any minute any of these countries with WMD could obliterate any other country, and this is a very dangerous thing. Any country with WMD is a threat to the rest of the world, as at any minute they could kill millions of people.
