If there was one quote I would choose to define me it would have to be the simple quote by Ann Rand “The ladder of success is best climbed by stepping on the rungs of opportunity.” This quote, although not extremely well known, sets forth a simple precedent that one must fulfill to be successful in life. Because in my life I like to take simple straight forward things and turn them into life precedents I believe that this is a good principle to live by. I admire the mindset of Ann Rand because with her words and literature she creates things to be more efficient and useful rather than beautiful. While she does this she forms a flowing story that is entertaining but still embodies her principles and values. I hope that in my life I too will be able to create things efficiently with the beauty of originality and creativity. I believe that the “ladder of success” system she talks about can be applied to more than just the corporate world. It can be applied to anything from finances, psychological health, or even friendships. When she refers to “stepping on the rungs of opportunity,” I believe she is talking about taking your opportunities not just as they come but instead seeking them. I have found this quote has been applied to my life many times even before I was aware of it. When I first moved to North Carolina at the beginning of my sophomore year, I created and took the opportunity to be around students who worked hard at their academics and were disciplined in their work. Because of this opportunity taken, I have become a better, smarter and more prepared student who is prepared for todays academic world. Because of the challenges I created for myself school has become more to me than a learning environment. It has turned into practice a monitored practice for life. While taking school more seriously I also have learned to use my mistakes as guidelines and boundaries for what I will be able
