2.SINGTEL OVERVIEW

In 1879, 3 years after Alexander Graham Bell patented his telephone invention, Mr Bennet Pell started a private telephone exchange in Singapore that had 50 lines and made Singapore one of the first cities in the East to have telephone service. SingTel was incorporated in March 1992 and became a public company in October 1993. In Singapore, SingTel has had more than 128 years of operating experience and has played an integral part in the development of the city as a major communications hub in the region. In Australia, Optus serves more than six million customers. It has driven the competition as the challenger brand and led the way in technological innovations and breakthroughs.

Over the years, SingTel has grown to be a global player with a strong regional heritage. With one of the most extensive and advanced telecommunications infrastructure, the Group offers unparalleled reach in Asia and beyond. SingTel's highly developed international network provides direct connections from Singapore to more than 100 countries. It is a major investor in many of the world's most sophisticated submarine cable and satellite systems. The Group is the second largest satellite operator in the Asia Pacific.

The Group's other major investments in the region include Advanced Info Service (AIS) in Thailand, the Bharti Telecom Group in India, Globe Telecom in the Philippines, Pacific Bangladesh Telecom (PBTL) in Bangladesh, Telkomsel in Indonesia and Warid Telecom in Pakistan. Together, the Group has around 172 million mobile customers in eight markets. This is the largest multi-market mobile customer base in Asia outside of China. It was listed on the Singapore Exchange in November 1993 and on the Australian Stock Exchange in September 2001. In May 1993, SingTel set up its first overseas office in New York City. SingTel’s group revenue cross the S$10 billion mark in March 2003 and by 2004, SingTel has become the largest company listed on the Singapore Exchange with a market capitalisation of around S$40 billion (or US$24 billion at the exchange rate in May 2004).

3. SINGTEL SERVICES

Singtel as a communicaton group offers a wide range of products & services in this industry, from individual to organization level. Every individual consumer can enjoy its services for a specified amount from voice plan to Internet. Singtel has its own customer service centers and authorized retailers/dealers. There is no differences can be found between its retailers and its own outlets in terms of service, products, price etc., We can feel the Singtel’s atmosphere in both the places. The users can afford the products and services according to their needs and budget. If an individual needs a voice plan (Landline) or Internet or TV, the person can buy according to the plan available. Singtel offers its services even to the level of medium and large level business needs. For the business level customers, singtel offers its products like satellite service, wireless, carrier service etc.

4. PRODUCTS & SERVICES

VOICE:

It’s the fixed line voice service, which is being connected by wires and the communicated through this mode of transmission. SingTel offers a wide range of international calling services, backed by a wealth of technical expertise, experience and 24 X 7 customer service to ensure that your business runs smoothly, round the clock. Voice service is provided for both the consumer level customers and business level customers according to their requirements.

INTERNET:

Now the Internet plays a vital role for every individual and businesses. Singtel offers Internet package in the form of four different packages. Each and every package differs from other package. The packages are Singnet вЂ" internet is connected through telephone wire and is being charged according to your usage, Singtel Magix вЂ" it is also connected thro telephone wire but with a dedicated speed of 512kbps, which can be bought from the plan available, Wireless@ SG вЂ" is a wireless internet usage package which can be used at free of cost and Broadband on Mobile вЂ" it’s the package generally for the customers who really depend on internet. It’s the package for the Internet users through their mobile phone.

MOBILE:

Now Mobile phones have become part of our life and one of the family members. Singtel offers both Prepaid and Postpaid service. Singtel offers the prepaid package for the budget individual users. They have 2 different top-up values with two different valuable services. First is $20 top-up card for the local call users. Another is $28 Top-up card, which will give you $28 worth of international calls and $72 for the local calls. Singtel do benefit its customers and values their continuous support to their firm wit some offers and promotions. Singtel do reward the post paid customer as well by claiming their reward points collected through the customers bill payment.

MIO:

It’s the newly launched product of Singtel. It the wireless product through which you can connect to your fixed voice phone and internet. In this product the customers can enjoy 1 fixed phone line, 1 mobile phone service with a hand phone and an unlimited Internet package. This package has become quiet very popular and being used by many customers in Singapore. This plan allows the customer to choose their package according to their needs and package.

MIO TV:

It’s the recently launched product of Singtel. It’s the attempt of Singtel to enter into the paid tv program industry. It’s the package of paid tv program for a fixed price. It offers a long list of innovative features and a wide variety of HD channels, programmes and movies. In this plan there is no basic plan charge or rental for the Setup box.
