SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS!!!!!
How often have you heard someone say, "I've got some good news and some bad news, which one would you like to hear first? Personally, I usually opt for the bad news, hoping that the good will ease the pain of the bad. It doesn't always work, however.
Are we spreading the Good News? More specifically, am I spreading the Good News? What is the Good News? If I don't even know what it is, how can I possibly spread it. I remember growing up and hearing about the Gospel, the Good News. But it was not until I was in my forties that I realized that the Good News was that Jesus came from Heaven and died for my sins and above all, rose from the dead so that I might have eternal life. Am I willing to let anyone know that Jesus died for their sins and that He's coming soon to take them home with Him if they are just willing to believe on Him; to accept His gift of grace?
Are we spreading Good News or Bad? When we hear the words, "Have you heard the news about Sister Judy or Brother Jody?" it's not usually good news. How do we respond? Do we say something like "If it's not good, I don't want to hear it!"....... or do we salivate as we anxiously await the tasty morsel of gossip?.
Good News isn't very popular these days. If you don't believe me. Listen to the local or national news on any given evening. Count the number of Good news stories and it will be obvious that they are outnumbered by the bad.
What is the substance of my daily conversations? When someone talks about the strange weather or earthquakes or terrible news stories; how do I respond? When I encounter someone very obviously floundering in sin, do I condemn them or do I share the Good News of Jesus Christ ? Do I let them know that if He can save a wretch like me, He can save
