Studying Abroad
Many people state that studying abroad is a good and bad experience on students who want to pursue their dream careers while they are away from their families and under pressure from them to pass with good grades and have a good time living in a new country while facing new people and new cultures and traditions and new life challenges that await them while they grow and experience hardships and responsibilities one could never expect to face while studying abroad because of what they saw online or on pamphlets that were distributed to send only the good image of the university and country it is in to get more students from around the world for tourism and economy strengthening, while living in a new part of the world. .
Firstly, I believe studying abroad can affect the students’ personality and traits to a very bad behavioral actions that would make one despised by many who do not even know the good in that student background or where he came from which causes many difficulties for one to fit in with the other students and making friends will be hard and might shake the students’ confidence which causes a drastic change in the student’s mindset or way of interacting with other people even his family will see the changes course if it is going to lead to a good or a bad way .But, I also believe that students can spend the best time of their life while studying abroad they get to see new faces, cultures, traditions and make new friends, experiences, and adventures to tell their families about when they travel back home .
Secondly, Studying abroad gives the student a better opportunity while seeking jobs and careers to secure a good future for themselves on long run. "International experience is one of the most important components of a 21st century resume."(Dr. Allan E. Goodman, 2015). While majority of people know that studying abroad is not only much more than just a normal experience but also a new independent life as you grow and mature while interacting with different cultures and languages and country regulations and rules. “It is important to study abroad not only because it allows for great linguistic improvement, life-long international friendships, amazing additions to your resume, and greater cultural understanding, but most importantly the semester or year(s) abroad allows for the practical application and global perspective of everything we learn back in the classroom state-side.”(Jake Joseph, 2015). Which also gives the student a better understanding on how to interact with people with different beliefs and cultures that improves his eyes to notice who is from a different culture and who is not , which also makes the student more approachable by people and a lot friendlier as he knows different languages to communicate with the other person.
Thirdly, Statistics from Wittenberg University (USA, Ohio) show that studying abroad can boost ones independence and abilities such as cooking, organizing and managing their time more efficiently and smoothly than they used to be dependent on their parents, family, and mostly friends to help and accompany them in their journeys and adventures. “Studying abroad redefined my life by allowing me to apply a broader mindset to daily life. It allowed me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and experience an independence that can only be found while studying in a foreign country.”
(Elizabeth Goodrich, 2015). According to the University of California at Merced (USA, Merced County) students that study abroad are twice as likely to find a job within a year of graduation, and students that have studied abroad have a 25% percent higher salary than college graduates that did not .When abroad , you lose your normal support network. You are forced to become more independent , and in doing so, learn valuable lessons such as financial skills. Going to another country where the residents speak a different language can be scary . Many students scratch off the option of studying abroad for that reason , but they should keep in mind that language fluency is not vital. As also studying abroad will help the student to know how to limit himself and organize himself in a better way than when his family is around him as well it teaches one that if he wants something to go look for it and get it not wait for approval or help from others to do whatever the student wants.
