Problem Definition

"Jolly Ranchers Vs Saltine Crackers"

My problem was if humans who were given candy containing sugar would be able keep up their energy throughout the jog than humans given salted foods. Group A has 50 humans and Group B has 50 humans. Group A was given 6 cherry Jolly Ranchers and Group B was given 15 Saltine Crackers . The foods were both equal in amounts of sugar and salt. Both groups were put to the test to see what group had a higher blood pressure, heart rate and energy level after jogging 10 laps.

"Draft of Research and Clearly Stated Hypothesis"

According to my research, this controlled experiment has never been tested.

Glucose is a fuel for cells in the body. Glucose enters the body from the

mouth and enters the cell where it is used for energy or will be stored as

glycogen or adipose tissue. Sodium is a mineral found in various foods

including table salt and saltine crackers. The body needs a small amount of

sodium to help maintain normal blood pressure and normal function of

muscles and nerves. Sodium is found in table salt, baking soda, monosodium

glutamate (MSG), various seasonings, additives, condiments, meat, fish,

poultry, dairy foods, eggs, smoked meats, olives, and pickled foods. Jolly

Ranchers have an equal amount of sugar as crackers have salt.

Hypothesis

If humans who were given glucose would be able keep up their energy

throughout the jog than humans given salt. The amount of salt in crackers

were equal to the amount of sugar in jolly ranchers.

Description of Experiment

This a controlled experiment. The control group is Group A which contains

50 humans each given 6 jolly ranchers. The experimental group is Group B

which containing 50 humans each given 15 saltine crackers. This experiment is

to test if the sodium in crackers will drastically alter a person's heart rate and

blood pressure throughout a lengthy jog more than sugar will. Sugar is

already known to heighten someone's heart rate and blood pressure but will

salt
