The Holocaust

During this horrific event called The Holocaust a lot of lives have died and a lot of people treated badly. In our time we were left with thousands maybe even millions of photos of this terrifying event. The image of the Jewish corpses at the Nazi’s death camps is one of the most memorable and horrific images that describe clearly The Holocaust. In the image we are able to see how the bodies of the deceased Jewish corps were treated and left to decompose in the view of others. With this important image of this historic time it shows the viewers that during The Holocaust every Jew was treated badly and that even when you died you were treated badly as well. The Holocaust s one of the sad moments In our united states history one of the moments that when we hear or see images of what happened we wish that something so horrific would not happen in our states but sadly it did. We are able to see the bodies of the deceased piled up against each other in concentration camps. The injustice that happened to this poor Jewish people saddens the people that hear about it. With all the images that have been collected and brought to light we can see that each individual in the photographic images are depressed and unaware of what tragedy might happen next. Men, women, and even children were brought to be part of this injustice to the Jewish people. The saddest part of all is that children were separated from their families and some saw their parents died in front of their own eyes.

First, The Holocaust is an important historic event that even in our time children around the world are learning about this terrible event. It is not to make children hate Hitler but to acknowledge a little of our history and see all the bad things that happen around the world. “The Holocaust is generally regarded as the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and slaughter of approximately 6 million Jews…” (1) In this article we are able to see that not only a few thousand Jews died but millions of them, that were taken away from their families and brought to camps to be executed or they threw them to what they call “The Ghettos” where they were living as the lowest class with no food which caused many deaths of malnutrition and diseases. Hitler was one of the biggest person at fault for causing so many deaths of the Jewish people he started the riots and the concentration camps. The concentration camps were camps that were made specifically for the Jews to work under harsh working conditions and to torture them sadly in these camps many lives were taken away and many were executed either with gas chambers or other horrific ways. Most people believed that Jews were the only victims in this horrific historic event but sadly they were not the only ones “…(approximately 3 million) non-Jewish Poles killed” (5) Many people believed that this event was only meant for Jews but sadly it was not it was made for whomever they believed deserved to be there if they had Jewish blood they were there. Some may ask why did they not revolt against them if they were more of them and less of the soldiers the reason being “They came from various European countries and therefore spoke different languages. Most importantly, they were extremely weak because of their living conditions.” (5) Even if they were many of them they still cannot do anything about it since they did not have any military background and they were not strong enough to defeat them especially because of the malnutrition they had for this was probably already planned since they might have already knew they would try to revolt if they were treated differently.

Second, Concentration camps images were one of the most historic images one could have ever seen during The Holocaust since many people would be able to see the terrifying places that the Jews were forced to live. These images consisted of gas chambers, sleeping rooms, working area and importantly the area where they placed the deceased. Many would have thought that these images would have been destroyed by the soldiers or even by Hitler but they were not because for some reason Hitler wanted to show the people his supposedly triumph that he thought he had. There’s an images that read “Arbeit Macht Frei” meaning “Work Makes (you) Free” That saying was on top of the entrance in some concentration camps which stated that exactly but the question on everyone’s mind is does it really make you free under those conditions the answer is no. A Historical event that also was during the holocaust was Anne Frank, as we know now the images of her household where her and her family stayed is a very known and a historical ground. As of now her house is being visited by millions of people why is this house historical and what makes it a historic event is that many girls at that age did not write as well as Anne frank and she wanted to be a journalist and she wrote elegantly for a girl at her age. Anne Frank and her family were hiding behind a book case for several of years until someone told on them and they killed them all except her father which after several years later he found her dairy and let the whole world know what she wrote about. Her home was like any other home that someone would live during the holocaust that was not Jewish; they did not suffer as much as the rest of Jews suffered until the day they found them. Anne Frank is a symbolic being during the historical event of the holocaust because of her diaries we are able to experience some of the things she experienced when she was there. Many individuals found out more about the holocaust through Anne Franks diaries since they were very descriptive and she wrote every little detail that happened to her. One of her images of her self-portraits shows that she was just a young girl trying to live a nice and happy life during a terrifying moment of history.

Thirdly, Most of the images during The Holocaust are very iconic and symbolic that shows the effect that it had. No matter what image it was or what the image contained whether it was dead bodies, fences, campsites they all have a special meaning. Each photo contains memories of that time that brings light and some knowledge to people that are learning from it now. In the images each shows a different message whether it is a happy moment, sad, terrifying and even dreadful moments it all contains a part of The Holocaust that remain engraved in many Jewish households. Pictures during that time have a sad memory to them and many people do not understand why they are going around and why they have become an important historic memory, the reason is that since many people would wonder what it was like to live under those terrifying moments without having any photographic images to show it would not make it very historic since people would not be abler to see an image about it. It is difficult to choose just one image that is known for this event but if I were to decide an image it would be of Anne frank, how come you may ask it is because she is a very iconic person that when a person hears her name they connect it with The Holocaust because she was such a young girl with dreams that died at such a young age without being able to accomplish them. Anne is the reason we know so much about this dreadful historic moment she makes this historic moment a very interesting but sad at the same time to remember it. Seeing her images of herself we can see that she was not having the best time of her life not being able to go out and experience fresh air without feeling secure of her own freedom.
