The Seven Grandfather Teachings
Wisdom
Wisdom is used in order to find the difference between positive and negative and understand the result of ones actions. To hear the wisdom of the elders, or spiritual leaders and use it on your own. Wisdom is the ability to use good sense, and to do good actions with a good attitude.
Martin Luther King Jr was one of the most influential civil rights activists. He showed the world of his passionate, but non-violent protests, to help raise awareness of racial inequalities in America. Doing this he had led to a significant political change. King was also a great persuasive speaker who captured the imagination and hearts of people of all kind.
This to me relates to wisdom for he used a good sense to do something which could have gone the wrong way with violence, into a peaceful protest. He had a great success proving his message due to his wisdom and good attitude.
Love
Love is absolute kindness for all those around you. To love yourself and to love others is a life of peace with the creator and all creations. Love cannot be demanded...it must be earned.
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called children of God”
When projecting love on others you show them that you want peace making them feel safe and valued. When love exists to all people not only does it bring peace to them, it also brings peace to yourself.
Respect
Showing respect towards one shows honor in the values of the person by appreciation. Respect means not hurting anyone on the inside or outside. It as well must be earned and given by the goodness of your heart.
The Avatar. The Avatar one of the greatest movies, is about a paraplegic marine, Jake sully who was sent to the moon of Pandora on a mission. As he was there taking orders to gather information in order to take over Pandora. He realizes how great the native tribe is and their beautiful world. He disobeys his orders to protect the nature and the creations of what he now respects as home.
This shows a great example of respect for, Jake has shown that he cares and honors in the values of the native tribe which showed them that he respects them and by that he also earned their respect.
Bravery
Bravery involves courage, standing up to defend your beliefs. It also means facing obstacles with your personal strength.
“Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”
You must be brave in order to support your own beliefs. Those who are brave commit to doing these moral principles no matter what the opposition is. Only if a person shows this bravery and is not persuaded from ethical righteousness, will they then be rewarded.
Honesty
To tell the truth, being truthful and trustworthy. Be honest in every action you take and show good feelings.
Something that my heart can never let go of is being honest. My parents would always tell me if you lie, it could be believable and you may not be in trouble. Although, God is always watching, and God knows the truth. Therefore, I feel that it’s best to be honest and face whatever the consequences
