Uniforms In School

Clothing has become a way of self expression, how a person dresses are usually reflects on their personality. Look through different high school hallways, one thing that is similar no matter what part of the country your in, all students dress they way that they feel that day or how they think. Many students are harassed by other students for the way they dress, and how they appear. Starting uniforms throughout high schools would limit the amount of teasing of they way people look at each other. Many public school systems across the country are instituting school uniforms in an effort to improve overall school performance and to reduce negative behavior.
School uniforms would save parents money. If the district thought that uniforms would be best suitable for their town, the parents would have to buy as many uniforms as they pleased, but only one time. As now all students must go out and have the new fashion trends, and style. Students who live in different climates would also save money because uniforms would be appropriate for all types of weather not only spring or fall wear. Not all parents are able to go out of their way to buy all their children all they new styles so uniforms would save children the harassment of their cloths. "Experts believe that the use of school uniforms is more affordable to families because there is not as much pressure to buy expensive, trendy clothing. Uniforms are made to last, and can be washed easily and frequently. After the initial cost of buying uniforms, there is no need to spend as much money on clothing." Over the last couple of years, gang violence has become a big issue throughout high schools. Gangs choose colors to wear which lets people know to which gang they belong to. Students, who don't know of this issue, wear that certain color and get hurt because people are not aware of gang colors. "The school uniform readily identified students as a member of that school and increased student safety on and off campus. Uniforms readily identify who belong on campus and who does not. Unfortunately this isa matter of increasing conern in our modern age." ("The Debate Over School Uniform") Uniforms can additionally help prevent the display of gang activity in the school. Gangs would not be permitted to wear their gang colors during school because of the uniform regulations. School uniforms could also help avoid the tendency of cutting class or skipping school. If students were dressed in mandatory school uniforms, they could be easily recognized outside the school grounds.
