1. What is the difference between Human and Physical Geography? How do they interconnect?
Geography is divided into two main areas, Human Geography and Physical Geography. Human Geography focuses on humans and the impact and influences they have had on earth through their culture, language, economy, population, settlements, activities, politics, urbanisation and behavior. Physical Geography focuses on natural features and occurrences of the Earth such as landforms, soil, flora, fauna, water, climate, weather, animals, rocks and minerals. Human and Physical Geography interconnect through sustainability, globalization and climate change.
2. List 4 careers where Geography is either required or useful.
Cartographer
Geography teacher
Landscape architect
Travel Agent - Geography is useful to be a travel agent as they need to be able to educate others on countries when they are planning to travel to them. Things such as history of the country, a good time to travel there, climate, weather, sights/attractions, tours available, features such as mountains or glaciers, accommodation, transport, languages and cultures are all information that a travel agent will be able to give a customer if they have studied Geography.
3. Describe and explain what sustainability is, using an appropriate model. Discuss why sustainability is a complex yet important concept for Geographers to understand.
