Recent days, the rate of illegal immigration has become larger and is a controversial topic that is widely debatable regarding how the government deals with the legal and illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is defined as involving people who come from other countries without any legal form of identification. In “One Nation, Out of Many: why “Americanization” of Newcomers is Still Important” by Samuel Huntington, he discusses whether the United States has high level of immigration, such as Mexican and Hispanic, and low rates of assimilation of immigrants, this new society would transform America. Therefore, he points out that the result would be lose their identities and traditional values of the United States. However, in “The Realities of immigration,” Linda Chavez talks about immigration as a positive labor force for the United States. She addresses that immigrants’ desire to participate for working is higher than white males with lower educations.

Samuel dealt with new immigrants could eventually change America and the country would separate into two different societies, such as languages, and cultures. In the Article, Samuel mentions that “Would America be the America it is today if in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries it had been settled not by British Protestants but by French, Spanish, or Portuguese Catholics? The answer is no” (Samuel, 425), which means that the country can easily influence by other countries. However, too many different cultures are hard to form as one country. According to this article, Samuel writes “the continuation of high levels of Mexican and Hispanic immigration and low rates of assimilation of these immigrants into American society and culture could eventually change America into a country of two languages, two cultures, and two people.

“The current wave of immigration to the U.S has increased with each decade” (Samuel 427). Since America has high rates of immigration, both legal and illegal, especially from Mexico, these days, everyone understands Mexican cultures and food, and also, there are lots of Mexican restaurants that people can experience. Additionally, the United States has a highly developed diversity of different cultures because of the immigrants.

Common Americans consider illegal immigrants as a dangerous aliens for the United States and also, Americans think legal and illegal immigrant has bad effect on American’s employments. However, in “The Realities of immigration” by Linda Chavez, she states that even though many people consider immigrants as a hazardous aliens, it has many positive effects for American labor. Additionally, in this article, “the participation of immigrants in the labor force has had obvious positive effects” (Linda, 436) which means that Linda believes that the immigrants’ working desires are stronger than many American citizens. Also, either legal or illegal immigrants, who are unskilled, are a great way to employ workers and pay the cheapest wages. However, this could lead to a serious problem and the rate of American unemployment could be increase.
