Why the Bomb was Dropped

Boom, thousands of Americans are free of fighting in Japan. After Harry S. Truman confirmed the bombing the war was over. Although it killed thousands of Japanese I believe that it was only for the best. The two bombs fat man and little boy should have been dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. My fist reason is that thousands of American lives were saved. Also it ended the war right then because the Japanese don't really surrender. They don't because it's against the bushido code. First reason why I believe that the bombing was the right choice is because it saved American lives. About 418,500 Americans died in Japan. What would be the total if the bombs weren't dropped? Japanese were good fighters and were mowing Americans down with fortress guns, infantry guns, grenades & grenade dischargers anti-tank guns, anti-tank weapons and anti-aircraft weapons. Many wives would have become widows back in the America.

Next, the reason why I believe the bombing was good for Americans was that it ended the war quickly. Japanese would have never surrendered. They would of fight to the death. This was an old custom that the samurai developed. This was in the bushido code. Many of the Japanese committed hara-kiri which was when the carved out their stomach with a sword. New modern ways was to blow themselves up with a grenade. Japanese also believe that there emperor was a god and no one could take away there god. They also were only going to surrender if their emperor told them to lay down your weapons. The only way was to bomb Japan till they surrendered.

On the other hand there was other ways to end the war. One was to wait for the red army in the Soviet Union to invade Japan. That was a not good because we already have American
