Summary
The article “ Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior” by Amy Chua, explains that chinese is better and more successful in their life than Western childrens. She also compares how chinese children are more smarter and the different ways of raising the kids from her life reference.
Chau has two daughters name Sophia and Louisa and she has certain rules because of her chinese heritage. Chau thinks that Western mothers have in their mind that “stressing academic is not good for children”. They also thinks that kids should be be open to new idea while Chinese parents has a whole different mindset “academic success reflects successful parenting” (Chua). Say if a child was having problems in their grades, Chinese parents mother would spend a lot of time to make sure their child or children would be “superior” in the classroom. For Chinese there is no word in their dictionary that’s says to “give up” but for Western they tend to not put pressure or force on the children.
Chua said “Chinese parents that their kids owes them everything”. The Chinese mothers put in their all time to make sure their kids are on track. They also think they sacrifice their life therefore the children’s need to repay and obey by what the parents says and have set for them. For Western parents they do not have the same rules. They are very open about what the kids choose to do and do not have control over their life because it’s not theirs to begin with.
In conclusion, western parents wants their child to be successful and that they care about their self-respect, independence, and try to motivate them to be what they want to be in life and they also respect their child decision they make during life. On the other hand Chinese parents believe that they know what’s best for their kids so they are going to make it happen. They prepare to help build-up their self-confidence for their further,
