ACF5904 Individual Portfolio Customization and Questions

So far you have created a number of databases and saved them to your Google Drive. The questions below are intended for you to answer individually. Start a new document in Word and save it as “Portfolio Answers” in your Google Drive portfolio folder. Prepare answers to the following questions in your “Portfolio Answers” document. You should copy and paste screen images and documentation as described by the question. When the document is complete, then submit is in Moodle through the Assignment submission link.

  1. Tute 1 (6 marks)

You are working at a mail order company that processes between 1000 and 2000 orders per day. The orders are written on paper and must be entered into a computer system so that the customer details can be checked with the database of existing customers and so the products in the order can be picked and packed. You have 10 data entry staff who key in the orders. How will you ensure that orders entered are (1) valid (2) complete and (3) accurate?

  1. Tute 2 (4 marks)

In week 2 you did an evaluation of the members in your informal discussion group. If you completed the exercise satisfactorily, then you would have received SAPA, SPA and an indicative mark (based on an 80% group mark) in Moodle’s grades. Reproduce (copy/paste is easiest way) the table below in your “Portfolio Answers” document and fill in row 2 the required information.

  1. Chapter 3 (5 marks)

Problem 3 on page 65 asked for the set of relational tables (with primary and foreign keys identified) that correspond to the class diagram from Problem 1. Reproduce that answer in your “Portfolio Answers” document.

  1. Chapter 4 (10 marks)

You followed the steps in the book on pages 91-95 to create a form the for Steve’s Stylin’ Sunglasses database. Go into Access and enter the following customer information (Note you need to customize the data according to your student ID):

Close and save the Customer Form. Double click on the Customer Table on the left-hand of the database window to open the table and do a screen print by pushing keyboard simultaneously. Paste the screen print into your “Portfolio Answers” document by pressing keyboard V simultaneously.

  1. Chapter 4 Part Two (5 marks)

You followed the steps in the book on pages 74-78 to create a database for Steve’s Stylin’ Sunglasses resulting in a database similar to Finure 4.17 in the textbook. Go into Access and append your student ID# to the names of all the tables. Then show the relationships window and do a screen print by pushing keyboard simultaneously. Paste the screen print into your “Portfolio Answers” document by pressing keyboard V simultaneously. The sample below shows how your student ID# will show in the heading of each table.

  1. Chapter 4 Part three (10 marks)

Problem 8 b) to g) on page 98 required you to build SQL queries. First append your student ID to each of the table names as you did in the question above. Also append your student ID# to the queries you built. Next, generate a listing of SQL queries in a database by following the sequence of steps below.

  1. Go to /Database Tools/Database Documenter. A Documenter box will pop up.
  2. Select all the queries.
  3. /options
  4. [pic 3]
  5. Select SQL and Nothing…Nothing, as shown in the picture above.
  6. the Documenter box. A document will appear in the Access window.
  7. /Print Preview/ More/ Word/ Open the destination file after the export operation is complete
  8. A multi page document will open in Word.
  9. Copy/ paste the document into your “Portfolio Answers” document. Each page should look something like the picture below.

  1. Chapter 5: Sunset Graphics (5 marks)

During Tutorial 4 you built the database for the Sales and Collection process at Sunset Graphics by following pages 114 to 118. Append your student ID# to each of the tables as you did for the above two questions, then provide a screen print of the Relationships window (See instructions in the Chapter 4 question above).
