1. Frame - the picture inside frame/what we see

-how characters enter the stage - film char. can enter from anywhere

2. Editing - process of cutting film

-cut is splicing the pieces of film

-fade cutting - fade in/out - image gradually appears from darkness to image

-disolve - two images are imposed on each other - first image disolves second

image remains

-duration - long take 10 seconds - preserves continum of time and space

-rapid cutting - bombarding viewer with series of images - good for action

films

3. Camera angle

-High Camera angle - higher above focused target - used to dwarf images ie city

shots

-low Camera angle - lower than focused target - reinforces and distorts image -

portraits power/important

-Straight on angle - camera recording what eye would see looking out

4. Camera movement

-putting camera on track - camera can move with subject

-Pan movement - camera stationary - head can pivot left or right

-Crane - used to hoist camera up - overview of subject

-Tracking - camera moving on a track to follow subject

5. Lenses

-Normal lense - does not distort image

-Wide angle lense - distort image - gives greater sense of space

-Telephoto/zoom lense - uses telescope to zoom up to subject from far

6.Lighting

-High key lighting - well lighted and bright clear direct image

-Low key lighting - one light used - shadows created - usually dramatic and creates

mood/feeling for the image

7. Sound

-Music soundtrack

-deep - most important - everything in certain range is in focus - depth of field

-sharp - everthing in the image is clear

-shallow - everything in the foreground is clear and background is blurred
