CASE STUDY:

  1. Google is one of the most universally accessible technology companies.  The remuneration and salaries provided by Google are incredible. Besides the perks provided by Google, there are some issues that hinder the success of Google. Google having a slow selection process, long working hours and different culture in fast-paced environment creates a lot of concern for the Human resource management that may distress their contemporary business scenario.

In the first place, Google is known for captivating the delighted applicants by taking care of the employee’s interest and satisfaction. According to a survey, Google nearly gets hold of 2.5 million resumes a year which approximately equals to 6852 applicants per day. Nevertheless, there are quite a few numbers of employees who have a negative review about the overall recruitment and selection process of Google. As stated by a middle aged candidate, he justifies what Google is slacking in hiring and selection process. At first, when he was first contacted by Google in May, he was told to be interviewed for a corporate communication position at Google. After, he successfully passed the two phone interviews; he was requested to meet the headquarters. Moreover, He then had interviews with six different managers after which he was treated to the Google Cafe for lunch. In addition, he was assigned with several amount of homework where he had to make a marketing strategy along with a personal report. After two months, he was invited for a second round which would consist of another set of interviews (four or five). While anticipating a reply from Google, he eventually changed his mind and decided to work in another company. Without any delay, he started his job at a web based messaging company. Google’s Human resource Management tends to recruit candidates who are over qualified for the job. In like manner, the skills of the people working for Google do not grow. It is a disappointment to say that Google’s hiring process for recruiting best of best talented candidates are all over the top.  The interviewee is likely to hire people who are computer Greeks.
