Higher Education
Just like all young adults my interest and pursuits have changed as I've grown older. From childhood I have been fascinated by flight and wanted to pursue a career as a pilot in the Air Force. I was lucky enough to receive a congressional recommendation from Congressman Max Sandlin, but my ACT scores weren't to the standards of the Academy. After the disappointment of not being accepted I applied to Spartan College of Aeronautics. I would have been able to receive the same pilot's license, but it was a huge financial obligation.
My freshman year I declared criminal justice as my major, but I might as well have been undecided because I didn't know what I wanted to do. I started working at a country club as a bartender and I soon found my calling. I love the service industry and I plan on receiving my hospitality degree in the next few years.
My parents did not attended college and they have regretted it ever since. My mom has always pushed my sister and I to graduate college and better ourselves. My sister graduated with a journalism degree from A&M Commerce in 2002.
I need financial assistance because between my mother and I our income is around twenty thousand dollars. My parents were recently divorced due to physical abuse and I no longer have financially assistance from my father. My mom's credit was ruined because of the divorce and she is on the verge of filling for bankruptcy. It has been difficult to qualify for loans because my mom's credit keeps her from being my co-signer. She works three jobs just to scrape by and I work 30 Ð'- 40 hours a week, plus attend college full time.
I appreciate your concern for my education and thank you for your generosity.
