INFORMATIVE REPORT
MEMORANDUM
TO: Lane Tarver
FROM: Lana Samuels
DATE: February 10, 2017
SUBJECT: Kids that Can! –Donation techniques
Introduction
As requested by the board of directors, I researched information regarding adults’ mostly chosen methods when donating to organizations, in order to gather information and develop recommendations after the information is disseminated and discussed. To accumulate this data I surveyed donors of the local United Way office concerning their mostly used donation methods. This report includes survey data on when, where, and how donations were made to United Way.
Message
By surveying donors of United Way seventy-two percent of participants responded, 629 of which were female and 583 male. According to the survey data, the majority of adults that made a donation to charity in the past 12 months claimed it was at a store register, followed by at a charity event, regular mail and the least used was the mobile device (participants could chose more than one). Furthermore, I suggested that if given ten dollars to donate online to whom would it go; in response, mostly to a nonprofit organization, followed by an appeal to directly benefit an individual in need, and least chosen was to a company campaign raising funds to address a social or environment issue. Moreover, a mass number of Americans designated donating online various times throughout the year or when asked, a respected percentage to following a major disaster that needs immediate support, and the least percentage around the holidays.
