I. INTRODUCTION

Fire is the hot, bright flames produced by things that are burning. The control of fire by early humans was a turning point in the cultural aspect of human evolution. Fire provided a source of warmth, protection, improvement on hunting and a method for cooking food. These cultural advancements allowed for human geographic dispersal, cultural innovations, and changes to diet and behaviour.

For thousands of years, man has mastered- or at least attempted to master – the useful resources of fire. Generating light and heat, fire has many uses and might provide more benefits to people today than at any other point in history. However, when not controlled, fire can cause great destruction and injury.

Fires require oxygen and fuel to be ignited.
