Running Head: WORKPLACE DIVERSITY
Workplace Diversity
Eastern Kentucky University, FSE320
Abstract
Diversity is a one word definition of the population throughout the world today. Times have changed most people just have not realized it yet. As we progressively become more and more diverse in all aspects of life, people need to accept diversity and understand that things aren’t going to go back to the way they used to be. For people to accept change it is going to have to start at the top from the managerial positions throughout.

The purpose of this article is to inform managers of the need to effectively manage diverse workforce populations (Green, Lopez, Wysocki, and Kepner).
Diversity is a one word definition of the population throughout the world today. How we choose to recognize and accept the change as supervisors will dramatically effect how our workplace will accept the change. The article above is very direct in stating the importance of people in the managerial hierarchy accepting change. I agree with the article to some extent. The article says diversity is important in all businesses, I agree with that, but I also believe we should hire the most qualified person for the job. It might take a little bit longer to make a company more diverse, but it will be much better in the long run. Civil service is a prime example of what I am getting at. The quality of employees hired has gone way down in recent years, due to trying to instantly diversify the workforce. I don’t think any company will accomplish the result they are looking for by trying to instantly diversify their work force. The article also clearly states diversity can be beneficial to both associates and employers (Green). I absolutely agree with diversity being beneficial for both associates
