Mastering a Skill

There are many skills in the world today that every single person in the world can benefit from. The skill that I have chosen to do my essay that I feel would be beneficial for everyone to know is how to make a resume. A resume tells your prospective employer a great deal about you and your accomplishments. Resumes tell your employer where you have been in the past leading up to where you are now, and where and what your goals are to be accomplished in the future.

The first time that many people ever meet their employers these days is through their resume. First impressions are always a large factor when meeting someone new, especially if they may have a great deal with your career and life in the future. So when preparing a resume, you want it to represent you as if you were in the office with the person reading it perhaps like a first interview. Another thing to think about when writing your resume is that it is in someway an advertisement, for you. Your resume should catch your employer’s eye and get your message across to him/her quickly and clearly, and this message should say, “I am the one that will do the best of my ability for you, no one will work for you the way that I will!!”, but again in a professional manner.

When writing a resume it is also important to tell the prospected employer of any schooling and other qualifications that you might have accumulated in the past leading up to where you are now. A high school diploma can be listed, along with any college degrees or certifications that you have received from school or training at another job. The objective statement is another very important part of the resume. The objective tells the employer what type of position you are seeking, whether you want a full time position or part-time position, and where your goals and interests lie for the future. After reading an objective,
