We all have skills. Some we know and use every day and some don't know but need to learn. We use our skills every day on the various tasks we do. Some of our skills over time will help us and the others around us often more then we know. Learning a specific skill is done through time and dedication. Time management is a simple skill that once learned will benefit anyone.
So what is the skill of time management? Time management is learning to allot the correct amount of time needed to complete a task. Time management is also learning how to move or adjust your time to compensate for the unknown. Learning to correctly allot time or make adjustments to your time will allow you to make sure that everything gets done and nothing gets missed.
So how does one learn to manage their time correctly? Time can be managed by technique or tools. One technique is simply "do it now, don't put it off till later". Putting things off till the bitter end can sometimes cause you to spend more time than you had originally planned. Some of the more common tools are project management programs or something as simple as a "to-do list". A to-do list is putting down the tasks you need to complete on paper in some kind of order giving you a visual reminder. Using either techniques or tools will help you become a better time manager.
Why is time management a skill that everyone would benefit from? Time itself is limited. We are bound to time for eternity with no hope of escape. We can not simply put time in our back pocket and use it tomorrow. We can not use those extra hours we pocketed when they would help us get that project at work done or allow us to get to the store before it closes. Twenty-four hours a day is all we get all. Using your time correctly will allow you to get what you need done.
Time management skills allow you to budget your day or available time so you can complete the tasks in front of you and allow you to have your play time later. Being a student, time management is a key skill that I need. Budgeting time for both work and school allows me to complete both in a limited amount of time. Originally I would read the morning newspaper on the way to work and then again on the ride home. Now I only read in the morning and will print out any required reading so that it can be read on my train ride home. Simple things like this allow me to squeeze every possible minute out of the day.
So what if I don't learn to manage my time? Does the world come to
